The Blue Bear Elite Group

Developing Recurve Archers Towards International Elite Level

The Blue Bear Elite Group is a high-performance program founded by Swedish recurve archers Erika Jangnäs and Kaj Sjöberg for recurve archers aiming to reach the international level. The group is now part of The Blue Bear Company and exists to provide a professional, ambitious and sustainable environment for long-term athlete development.

The program is built to develop archers capable of performing at international level through structured training, consistent follow-up, and a performance mindset. The focus is not only on results, but on building the knowledge of the technical, physical, and mental foundations required for elite performance.

The group is coached by Pierre Jangnäs and led by founders Erika and Kaj, who are responsible for the daily operations, structure, athlete development, and overall direction of the program. They drive the execution and long-term vision of the group, ensuring a consistent high-performance environment. Through its connection with The Blue Bear Company, the group has a framework that makes it easier to finance and build an elite-focused operation.

While the project has strong roots in Swedish archery, it is also open to international archers who share the same ambition, mindset, and commitment to performance.

Vision and Philosophy

The goal of The Blue Bear Elite Group is to:

  1. Develop recurve archers toward international performance level.
  2. Build a long-term high-performance culture.
  3. Support athletes in both technical and mental development.
  4. Build a group driven by ambition, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

    Group Structure

Archers selected for the program will be invited to officially join as members of The Blue Bear Elite Group through an agreement with The Blue Bear Company.

The selected will have an annual membership fee of 1000 SEK applies, along with a training camp fee of 500 SEK per camp.

Each archer is expected to attend at least the summer selection camp and technical development camp.

The group focuses on quality over quantity and therefore consists of a maximum of 12 archers. Erika and Kaj are included within this number as long as they remain actively committed to their elite-level involvement.

Membership remains active as long as the archer chooses to stay in the program and continues to meet the commitments and expectations defined in the agreement.

When the group reaches full capacity, a competitive selection system will be implemented. This means that existing members may be re-evaluated and potentially replaced during the annual selection camp in order to maintain the overall performance level of the group.

The Blue Bear Elite Group is for recurve archers who:

    • are motivated to improve long term.
    • want to train in a serious and structured environment.
    • are willing to invest in their own development.
    • aim toward national and international performance.

    Annual Training Camps

Throughout the year, the group organizes several camps focused on different aspects of elite development:

    1. Selection Camp
    2. Technical Development Camp
    3. Competition & Evaluation Camp
    4. Outdoor Preparation Camp

Each camp is designed to support the athlete through different phases of the season.

    Selection Process: The Selection Camp

New athletes can be selected through our annual Selection Camp during the summer. Participation is open to all recurve archers shooting 70 meters. Attendance on both days is required in order to be considered for selection into the group. However, participation is also open to archers who wish to attend the camp for training and experience purposes without the intention of joining the group.
